How To Make Cucumber Mustard Curry:
Ingredients:
Dosakaya / cucumbers – 2
Mustard seeds powder – 1 tsp (powder prep given below)
Green chillies – 2
Red chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp for seasoning
Zeera – 1/4 tsp
Curry leaves – few
Tamarind paste – 1/4 tsp (optional)
Method:
1. Peel and wash cucumber. Cut in half and de-seed.
2. Chop into small pieces.
3. In a pan do the seasoning with oil, mustard seeds, zeera, green chillies and curry leaves.
4. Now add chopped cucumber, salt and tamarind paste. Cook under High flame for 5 mins covering with lid.
5. When cucumber is almost done cooking, add mustard powder & red chilli powder. Cook for 2 more mins or until done.
That’t it! Super simple yet tasty Dosakaya aava koora is ready to serve with white rice along with mudda pappu or just plain rice.
Note:
Cucumber cooks very fast because of its water content. Careful not to over cook.
Aava / Mustard powder preperation:
Grind some mustard seeds into fine powder in a mixer.
You can use the quantity you want, and store the remaning in a zipock and refrigerate for freshness.
