How To Make Mysore Rassam:
Ingredients:
Tomato – 1
Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
Jaggery – 1 tbsp
Lime – ½
Toor dal – 1 cup (cooked)
Water – 1 cup
Mustard seeds – ¼ tsp
Asafetida – ¼ tsp
Curry leaves – few
Coriander leaves – few
Oil – 1 tsp
Salt – to taste
Ground powder ingredients:
Channa dal – ½ tsp
Toor dal – ½ tsp
Coriander seeds – ½ tsp
Pepper corns – ½ tsp
Dry grated coconut – 1 tsp
Method:
1. Dry roast all the powder ingredients and make a fine powder. Keep it aside.
2. Boil the tomatoes in water with salt, turmeric powder, asafoetida and of ground powder.
3. When it starts to boiling add the mashed dal to this.
4. Do not allow this rasam to boil.
5. Then add the cooked and mashed toor dal and bring it to boil.
6. Now add jaggery powder and chopped coriander leaves.
7. Now remove from heat and add lemon juice.
8. Then season with mustard seeds and curry leaves and pour on top of rasam.
9. Serve hot with rice.
